For many sales teams, the need to travel is eminent. You must go where the opportunity to sell is. You don’t want to tell potential customers to come to you. Never before has technology allowed sales teams the opportunities to travel while also enjoying the comforts of home.

A sales person can travel with a portable office. They’ve got their laptop computer. On this computer they’ve got email. They’ve got Microsoft Office for creating documents, spreadsheets, or power point presentations. They’ve also got email fax, a service they can access wherever there is Internet access. They’ve got instant messaging. They’ve got remote access, allowing them to literally log onto their work computer from anywhere.

In addition to their traveling computer, they’ve got their cell phone, so they can be contacted any time anywhere, by business associates or family.

There’s also fun toys available for the traveler that didn’t exist ten years ago. They can download iTunes for free onto their laptop, letting them listen to their favorite music while they work. They can even download their favorite TV show or movie to watch on the plane. Many of these technologies are also available in super portable form, onto an iPod or iPhone.

The bottom line is that for those companies with a segment of their population who need to travel, there’s amazing opportunities to give them all of the convenience and opportunity for work and play that you have at home.
