Internet Fax Reduces the Risk of Spam
I recently found a great old New York Times article from the 80’s that demonstrates a problem with fax technology:In the article, Peter Lewis says:
“Imagine if a loud and abrasive stranger walked unannounced into your office, slapped you on the back, asked you to stop working while he made a sales pitch, reached into your desk drawer for a pen and piece of paper, then asked to borrow your phone for a few minutes. Worse, suppose he dashed from the room before you had the satisfaction of throwing a paperweight at him.”
He then suggests that this is the same as receiving unwanted faxes. None of us want spam, but it’s even worse when it comes in the form of fax due to the cost of paper, toner, ink, repairs, etc.
Thankfully, Internet fax reduces the risk of this. You can get your faxes from an Internet service that delivers the fax as an attachment to an email. You no longer have to worry about the fax machine being tied up with delinquent marketers who are insensitive about fax expenses. You can control your faxes thanks to the modern upgrades of this technology. Hooray for the Internet.
