We live in an insanely fast society. We have all of our communication at the speed of light.
Can you imagine that 50 years ago, if you wanted to send a document to someone outside of your local area, you’d had to mail it to them. You’d have to put it on a plane. We’re talking about all paperwork having a travel time of several days to anywhere in the world. Even if you were sending a document to some place local, you had to hire a courier who would drive it there. Talk about old school.
With the invention of the fax machine, suddenly we could send something to someone across the world in a few minutes. Holy fast!
But now things are even faster. The Internet suddenly made all data within reach in seconds. Just a click of the mouse and you’ve emailed that business partner in Asia. And he has it right now. No waiting.
There’s no more waiting in line for the fax machine, talking to our coworkers about last night’s Seinfeld. We now all have every episode of Seinfeld on DVD which we can watch any time we want. And we have fax to email services making the fax machine obsolete.
I’m not sure if it’s a brave new world, but things do sure move fast. There’s certainly good aspects to the transition. Especially for those of us who are impatient. We can get our info fast.
